In the opening service of iGO 2018, Awe Star President Peggy Nunley issued a stirring challenge that set the stage for the entire weekend. "I believe for you and for me there is something that God's going to put in front of us, and we're just going to have to make a choice. It's not going to be comfortable; and it's not going to be what you expect." Watch as the Lord speaks through Peggy, and ask Him to show you His specific message for you.

iGo 2018: A place of the unexpected. A place of challenge. A place of surrender. Awe Star staffers orchestrated all aspects of the conference, from arranging for speakers’ transportation and housing needs to making sure students were welcomed and well cared for. Today, we share some of their post-iGO reflections. Billie Armlovich reflects on the message given by Jeremy and Caleb Freeman, remembering Caleb’s words: “We all think we have time” [to go on a mission trip; to follow God in obedience.] We don’t know the future, so we need to obey Him today. For Billie, one of the most powerful iGO moments was praying with the students during what has become an Awe Star tradition. After the Saturday-evening service, those students who feel led to go to and/or pray for a particular country meet at its flag for a time of dedicated prayer. Billie and the rest of the staff continue in prayer for those students today. Whitney Maie Hunter has a challenge of her own to share: “The deeper God calls you, the more He is with you.” After hearing the message from our unknown missionary speaker, she offers this encouragement to someone wondering, Why doesn’t God move in big ways in my life? “How much have you stepped out?” she says. “As you step out in faith, God will expose Himself in supernatural ways.” Gerri Smith found her own faith challenged by incoming Awe Star president, Peggy Nunley, who urged students to “step out of the boat” and out of their element in pursuing God’s desires for them. “Real faith can move mountains,” Gerri says, and when we apply our faith to small things, God can do big things. She notes that the speakers’ messages “grew out of each other” and brought all those who attended into a deeper faith-walk with God. Martha Clemons also pointed to Peggy’s “step out of the boat” message and to the prayer for the nations as two of iGO’s most impactful moments. “It was so incredible to see all those students move in trust and faith,” she says. “They’re willing to step out of their comfort zone and to keep seeking Him.” Awe Star President Peggy Nunley sums it all up when she says, “iGO was amazing. We had a great group of students and adults. But the best part of all was that God showed up in some huge ways. … We can’t wait to see what He does with these students as they carry out what He spoke into them at iGO.” After iGO, is God calling you to be iGONE with Awe Star? Check out the "trips" tab on this site! In only a few short years, it’s become a cliché: There’s an app for that.
But like most clichés, it's true. Not only did iGO 2018 bring us powerful worship and inspiring speakers, but it also gave us a first look at the brand-new Awe Star app, available FREE in the iTunes store or on Google Play. Find it here. What’s on the Awe Star app? We’re so glad you asked! Its features include: —An “About” link describing who we are and what we do. —An “Events” link listing various events, programs and (most important of all) the 2019 mission trips. —a “News Feed” link contains (guess what?) all the latest Awe Star news—everything from photos to videos to our most recent Twitter posts. You can even find our 2019 missions brochure here! —a “Give” link that allows you to donate to Awe Star, either to the General Fund or to a specific missionary. If you’re traveling with us, you can pay your deposit or add to your mission trip account, all in one spot. —Scroll down for links to the Awe Star blog (you know, the one you’re reading right now); our latest videos; and our new Prayer Wall where you can post prayer requests and praises. —Scroll all the way to the bottom to find pages for the Bible, our website, note-taking and much more. We’ve had several hundred downloads for the Awe Star app already and would love to see more. Families need to stay connected, and the Awe Star app makes staying connected with our missions family as easy as pie. APPle pie, that is. Check it out! Tired. Passionate. Challenged. Inspired. Focused. Changed. These words all describe those who attended iGO 2018, held at Evergreen Baptist Church in Bixby, Oklahoma. After a power-packed weekend where students and adults alike engaged in powerful worship (led by the amazing Ryland Russell Band), heard life-changing, heart-stopping messages and participated in a variety of interactive breakout sessions, the word on the street is pH: Proclaim Him! If you attended iGO, we’d love to get your feedback. If you missed it, we encourage you to watch for the videos and visuals we’ll post in the days to come. They’ll give you some truth to cling to—and a taste of what you missed. We also encourage you to check out the “Trips” tab here on our website, where you'll find descriptions of the missions adventures we offer for 2019. Applications are coming in fast. Should yours be one of them? We’re praying for you and encourage you to call our office (1-800-AWE STAR) with any questions or prayer needs. And remember: You don't have to wait until this summer to proclaim Him! We’ve all had that experience of having just enough to want more. Whether it’s the sample spoon of ice cream, the preview pages of a Kindle book or the trailer for the latest movie, once we have a little bit, we want more. And that’s how it is with iGO. Once you have a "taste” of mission and ministry in the general sessions, you’ll want more. Once you have a “taste” of a country and its culture, you’ll want more. And our breakout sessions offer a way to receive it: More teaching. More Scripture. More experience. More insight. More personal connections. More intimacy. More communication. More. What does this look like? You’ll experience Awe Star President Peggy Nunley’s passion in iGO’s opening session, then have the opportunity to learn more about her, her family and her heart for the kingdom in her breakout session. You’ll marvel at the ways God has worked in Jeremy and Caleb Freeman’s lives, then learn from Pastor Jeremy about developing the eternal perspective into which Christ calls each of us. Or maybe you’ll play it backwards. You’ll sit enthralled as Caleb Moore teaches on “The Consequences of Ideas” in his breakout and then hear his challenging message in the general session. You’ll attend a breakout about a country where you may want to serve, then clearly experience His call to join the Awe Star family in praying over that nation. You’ll feel the Holy Spirit prompt you to attend a breakout on the story of martyred Awe Star missionary B.J. Higgins—and realize God is also calling you to come and die in ways you've never even considered. More. We all want it. Come experience more as you come “out of your element” at iGO 2018 and prepare your heart and your life to proclaim Him! |
