This afternoon we made the treck across town in the local taxis. By the way, we love those taxis! We were scheduled to do the drama at a school. When we got inside there were a few students and shortly they began pouring out of the classroom doors. When they all showed up there were about 400-500. The Team did a great job presenting the drama. The students of the school loved it. When we finished, the students of the school swarmed our Team asking for our autograph. Nothing like temporarily being famous, but we know who the real Star is: our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Praise God our Team pursues that goal and not self promotion.

Evan Walsh and Tessa Mitchell are serving as TDs of the day. An excellent selection, as these two have served on several other Awe Star trips and are serving as a MOM (Ministry of Multiplications) and POP (Passing on Principle) this time. MOMs and POPs are small group leaders.
Please pray for them as they help the team continue to keep its focus on Jesus Ministry. We love the continual attitude of our team being one, as we are willing witnesses pursuing seeking souls for God’s glory. This morning Team Peru was blessed to begin the day at the only orphanage in the San Martin region of Peru, located about 20 minutes from Tarapoto. The students were excited about portraying one of AweStar’s popular teachings that we are each our Father’s favorite child to the children at the orphanage and loving on them as Christ would. After presenting the drama and the gospel, several of the children prayed to accept Christ! Also, one of our TD’s was able to pray over the women who take care of the children and encouraged them in their work for the Lord.
After a break in the day and enjoying some time together as a team, we traveled to a plaza here in Tarapoto, and were initially disappointed because there was an outside dance class happening with really loud music, preventing us from doing the drama, but our disappointments are God’s divine appointments! After engaging the culture and joining in on the dance class, the dance instructor allowed our team to use his sound system which was much louder than ours and the team got to present the drama in the middle of a closed down street! In the waiting He is faithful! We saw many come to Christ afterwards! Ministry here in Tarapoto has been really good! God has been faithful to continue to bring people to himself and has continued to use our team. As our days of ministry wind down here in Peru, please be praying that the team will continue giving 100% to each day and that the excitement about how God moves will persist. We are thankful for your prayers and support so far! Team Peru TD’s, Natalie & Razi This morning we took our students to a nice waterfall someone had told us about, in the mountains surrounding Tarapoto. The drive up was beautiful with all the plants surrounding us. This area is known as the jungle of Peru. We had fun swimming in the COLD water and jumping under the waterfall. One of the students said he would like to be baptized so of course we accommodated his desire. After the excursion, we asked how the students would rate it, between 1-10. Most said between 9-11; it was a great day!
This I know though: Nothing compares to praying with people for salvation. God is good. Nothing is better than sharing Christ with a seeking soul. Pam Eubanks At the plaza in Tarapoto, one of our Ministry Team Leader (MTL) groups talked to a group of backpackers who were from Uruguay, Peru, and Portugal. The backpacking group has been walking around Peru and actually started their tour in Piura, where one of our translators lives. One of the men in the backpacking group shared his testimony with the MTL group and another member of his group accepted Christ after watching the drama and being presented with the gospel! Praise the Lord for the work He is doing in Peru!
We did not expect this. We haven’t seen opportunities like this, but God certainly placed this in our path. One of our Team Peru members saw him, Cesar was his name. He was needy in many ways to say the least. No shoes, no food or water, and lost. Our team started hustling to help this man. Someone gave him some shoes, someone shared Christ and Cesar joyfully, thankfully received Jesus. This was indeed a teary eyed experience. Then someone got him some food and water. Team Peru did not want to leave him. A precious relationship was established. The feeling of some was how can we leave this man while he was still in a “needy”state? Prayers were lifted up for Cesar that someone would come along, no, that God would send someone that would help him along even more. As we drove away we looked and saw someone helping Cesar. Maybe an angel from God. Maybe another Good Samaritan. One thing for sure, Cesar was burned in our memories. We will never see a needy person again and walk away without helping in some way. Thank You Lord for this life lesson.
Bill Eubanks When the Good Samaritan saw the man that was basically helpless he chose to respond to the needs that were numerous. Jesus related this story to help us to be aware when a situation in a person’s life might be overwhelming, but that we should pull together to help anyone who’s path we cross. Today was one of those moments. One of our team came upon Cesar who had multiple needs. The team went to work and supplied shoes for Cesar. Our Team helped him to see his lost condition and led him to salvation. Then he was hungry so the Team supplied food and water. He was so so appreciative. Very thankful, but we were too. What a blessing to help someone like this and to be able to give God all the praise. Thank You Father for this opportunity.
Bill Eubanks I know I start out with WOW a lot, but I like that word to describe some of God’s miraculous and joyful events. Today started with a drama in a rather small place with a rather small crowd. Then we went to a school and presented the drama and played soccer until we almost dropped. The last drama of the day was at a university with a crowd of college students.
In every opportunity, God gave a harvest of souls. We were blessed. A modest guess would calculate about 50-75 salvations today alone, if not more. At the end of this great day, we celebrated Marco’s birthday. Even more than his birthday, today we celebrated his leadership as he takes us on paths that seemingly have no end. His guidance, as he is directed by God, has always led us to fruit-bearing opportunities. Marco is indeed a blessing to all of Awe Star, but especially to Team Peru 2018! Today we traveled to the Plaza of Tarapoto and saw many signs of God at work. One of our students shared Christ with a man named Harry. Harry accepted Christ and became a believer; he changed his address from hell to Heaven!
We shared many tracts with the people in Tarapoto, prayed for, and with a lot of people who watched the drama presentation. We have seen many more souls saved. We talked with a man named Oscar, an engineer from Lima who spoke English. I asked Oscar if he would interpret for us and thanks to him a man named Heraldo became a believer! God is moving and we will join him. |
