BJ's Hope Missions Scholarship

 BJ Higgins served as an Awe Star Missionary to Peru in 2004 and 2005.  BJ lived his life for the Lord Jesus Christ and spent his energy pointing others to Him.  He led countless people to Christ, both at home and on the mission field.  His desire was to see others come to the same saving grace he had experienced.

 In the fall of 2005, BJ willingly laid down his life.  He returned from his final journey to Peru carrying an infectious disease.  During this trip, the Lord had shown BJ that he would be a martyr.  BJ embraced this knowledge with the same passion with which he lived his life.  Upon entering the hospital, barely able to breathe, he shared his testimony with the nurse who admitted him.  BJ wanted to make certain she had the opportunity to know Jesus.

Private contributors and Mercy Me's song "I Would Die for You" from their "Coming Up to Breathe" album have endowed this scholarship.  Their desire, and the desire of the Higgins family, is to enable others with BJ's passion for the lost to go and share Jesus with a dying world.
